Opportunity Guides for Youth on the Move
As part of our global effort to bridge this gap, we are launching the Global Opportunities Guide for Children and Youth on the Move. This guide is the foundation of what aims to become the world’s largest database of learning, training, and career opportunities for migrant, refugee, and displaced youth—helping them access educational, professional, and develop opportunities.
UNICEF’s Talent on the Move Report (2021), which leverages the technology of U-Report to explore the aspirations and barriers of 8,764 youth on the move aged between 14 and 24, reaffirms these realities and provides valuable insight:
70%
of youth on the move reported that limited financial resources prevented them from reaching their goal of learning.
32%
considered lack of information about available learning opportunities and resources a major barrier to education.
23%
pointed to difficulties in getting previous studies recognized as a key obstacle.

Who developed the Guides?
The Opportunity Guide was developed by the Migration Youth and Children Platform (MYCP) as part of our support to the UNICEF UNV Youth on the Move Programme, a partnership between UNICEF’s Migration and Displacement Hub, the Migration Youth and Children Platform, and United Nations Volunteers. This intervention is part of the initiatives implemented within the framework of the Partnership for Improving Prospects for Forcibly Displaced Persons and Host Communities (PROSPECTS), which is supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and brings together the ILO, IFC, UNHCR, UNICEF, and the World Bank to address education, employment, and protection in the context of forced displacement.
